Dear Friends, I would like to welcome you to the Faculty of Creative Industries. We have come a long way from the time of our establishment in 2008. From our small faculty in Petaling Jaya, we have now moved to a newer, modern, and better-equipped KB block in our brand-new Bandar Sg. Long Campus in 2015.
With better facilities and a more conducive environment, FCI has grown from 800 students to almost 1100 students presently. While UTAR has advanced steadily in the world rankings, the faculty has progressed further and has become more dynamic and progressive in the field of creative industries and has actively engaged external stakeholders in multiple aspects. From internships, industry collaborations, national competitions, and consultancy projects, the faculty has progressed impressively and now has students going abroad for their internships, study tours, and student exchange programmes. Our faculty members have won numerous international research grants, competitive fellowships, and worked on international collaborative projects with many foreign universities worldwide.
UTAR-FCI is a home-grown institution with a global international outlook and here in the faculty, our education standards and the quality of our courses are exceptional.
We do not produce graduates that are “tailor- made” for the industry, rather we groom graduates who are able to adapt and who will be critical thinkers/doers of the 21st century global creative economy.
Our programmes are fun, exciting and practical. Our faculty members have years of industry experience and are well- versed in academia and lecture with a dual educational perspective: Malaysian and Universal.
Here in FCI, we strive to be more than mere ‘players’ in the ‘education industry.’ We strive and aspire to be caring educators of the future that impart not only knowledge and education but kindness, integrity, love, passion, humility, grit and perseverance in the pursuit of knowledge and skills that enlighten.
Welcome to the Faculty of Creative Industries!
Dr. David C.E. Tneh
Dean of FCI
